This week we have visited our favourite beach twice. Why is it our favourite you ask? Well, Tregantle Beach (Info Here) is quite difficult to access in the sense that it’s quite steep and keeps everyone except the real die-hard beach goers at bay so it is often a nice quite beach which is , mostly, frequented by novice surfers and dog walkers. It is also big enough at low tide to allow everyone their own space and also the view of the coastline is beautiful when visibility is good in this area. It allows us to combine surfing , swimming and fetch all at the same time. It is also getting to that time of year when dog bans are being lifted on most beaches throughout the UK, so our adventures are only just beginning!!
Id love to visit as many of these Top Beaches this year during low season as well as some of the Secret Beaches mentioned in these lists too! I’m sure i will find my own and i would like to visit some more wild swimming spots on Dartmoor too.
We are also taking a keen interest in Marine Biology of late ( as I am looking to top up my conservation knowledge as this was my favourite topic during my Animal Science Degree at Plymouth University ) Dolphins, whales and porpoises are my favourite creatures ( and as wannabe Eco Rangers we are thinking about taking it upon ourselves to keep our favourite stretches of beach tidy. Inspired by the Marine Conservation Society and their Great British Beach Clean Up and the International Coastal Clean Up run by the Ocean Conservancy, we believe that we need to keep our coast lines plastic and litter free and will be doing a small tidy up every time we are there. Little things like this could make a big difference to our oceans health. We are also looking at becoming members of Surfers Against Sewage based in St Agnes Cornwall as well as members of The British Divers Marine Life Rescuers.
So please be responsible adventure dog owners and respect the outdoors by CLEANING UP EVERYTHING you take with you especially dog poo bags. If anyone is interested i would like to set up my own beach clean up event of this nature in the future so drop me a message on our facebook page: Adventure Dogs UK
I will keep you all posted on this topic in the near future. Whilst you ponder on this subject here are some lovely pictures of us at this awesome beach in Cornwall.
